I know you’re busy. But I’d like to share something today that I hope you find really helpful and that you will stop to briefly think about.
Society and culture as a whole does not understand physical training and nutrition. And if your default strategy is listening to the loudest or most frequent voices on the subject (be that a friend, family member, co-worker, social media feed, personal trainer who does not stay up on research and new information, or any combination thereof), then you are dooming yourself to cycles of failure and unnecessarily sub-par results forever.
Society will tell you all sorts of things. It will tell you that only bodybuilders need extra protein. That you should cut out an entire macronutrient (carbohydrates) if you ever want to reach your fitness goals. That you should do lots of cardio if you want to lose weight, use weight machines and not free weights to protect your joints, use all sorts of supplements to maximize your progress, and avoid too much excitement if you are over 60. There are discussions to be had on each of them, but not one of those claims are true as simply as they are typically stated.
Please, don’t just hear these things and accept them at face value. Challenge them. Do some research yourself, or, if you don’t have time, reach out to someone who knows their stuff in this and ask questions. I mean, hey, if you see something in one of MY posts that throws up a flag to you, challenge me.
Because if your de-facto plan is to listen to the person who talks the most, talks the loudest, or talks with the most confidence, then you are rolling the dice, and you will usually roll low.
If you have questions, message me. I’m here to help.
