I’ve used the term “fitness journey” a lot, but I’ve only just realized how odd that might sound without an explanation. So, using a guy named Donald Miller’s Storybrand formula, I’m going to explain it here.
You are the hero of this fitness story, and you have a mission. You want to lose weight and keep it off. Or you want to build muscle and strength.
But, like in every good story, the hero (you), has villains preventing them from accomplishing this mission. In my time coaching, I’ve learned that there are three of these villains, whose first letters conveniently spell out a decent villain name, NIC.
NIC stands for:
-NOISE: Instagram models, your cousin Rick, your co-worker Betty, and Dr. Oz all say different things about working out and eating. What’s the truth?
-INCONSISTENCY: Even if you’ve got an “optimal” plan, if you allow your internal and external obstacles to keep you from being consistent with it, you won’t see the progress you want.
-COMPLACENCY: This is simply not taking the next step. Allowing yourself to become content with where you are.
If these three villains can be vanquished, then success is inevitable.
So, you’re the hero, NIC is the enemy preventing you from reaching your goals. But, if you could defeat these enemies alone, you would have done it already.
Enter the guide, me. The guide is someone to come alongside the hero. It’s the Yoda, the Gandalf. The person who’s been there, done this, learned it, studied it, and sees the way forward.
The guide lays out the plan. Each of the three parts of my plan combats one of NIC’s parts.
-KNOWLEDGE: I show you the workout and nutrition strategy that fits YOUR goals, schedule, available time blocks, likes, dislikes, and budget. I’ll know this because we’ll have talked and worked through it. All of this is found in one convenient place, my coaching app.
-CONSISTENCY: I help you stick to the plan by providing daily messages, bi-weekly check-in calls, video form correction on exercises, and answering any and all questions you may have.
-INTENSITY: We don’t change things until they stop working, but when they do stop, we reach for what’s next, not settle.
This is where I, the guide, call you, the hero, to action. You’ve tried this before, and you’ve either failed, or you’ve made some progress only to revert back to the start. This part is difficult for me to type, but it’s what I’ve avoided before, and I think I’ve avoided it to the detriment of both myself and my potential clients.
If you don’t do something different, you WILL get the same results. And not only will you stay where you are now, but as your body ages, this will get worse. It CAN get a LOT worse.
But, it doesn’t have to. It can actually get a LOT better instead.
So listen, I’m not a salesy kind of person, and I really like to keep things simple. Here are the three steps to getting started with me as your guide should you decide to do so.
1. You go to my site (linked in comments) and click the “Get Started Now” button. There, you’ll select a time from my calendar for our call, and you’ll fill out a survey so I know how to best use the time.
2. We have our call at the time you chose, we talk through where you are, where you want to be, and what’s stopping you from getting there. From there, I share my coaching packages with you.
3. If you sign up, I’m your guide, and we get rolling with the plan laid out above. If you don’t, I point you in right direction, and I’m there should you ever change your mind.
That’s it. No trying to sell you additional products or blowing up your email. You either accept me as your guide and we crush this together, or you don’t.
I hope to talk with you soon!
