Mindset Monday 7/22/19
I do these Mindset Mondays because I find that a lot of people are stuck in making progress fitness-wise simply because they have a way a thinking about it that is not conducive to success. From prioritizing the number on the dumb scale to thinking they can never have certain foods if they want to be healthy, pre-conditioned cultural mindsets paralyze people because things feel unattainable. I’ve written about those two above extensively, so just message me if you’d like to know more about it.
Today, I want to talk about the 7 day week when it comes to your fitness strategy.
Listen, the Monday-Sunday week is a great thing because it helps us to plan things and all show up on the same day. But it’s also a societal construct that can hinder you. Let me explain.
Let’s say you find a workout program that you’re excited about and motivated to do, but it’s a 5-day plan, and you don’t have 5 days on the span of Monday-Sunday to workout. Well, throw out the 7-day week and do it as you can! The five days might be Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, or something like that. But guess what? Your body doesn’t know what day it is, just that you pushed it harder on squats or bench press that day and that it needs to adapt.
When it comes to food, if you’re a prepper, you don’t have to prep for 7 days. You can prep for 5. You can prep for 10.
The bottom line is this. If the societal constructs happen to fit your schedule and mesh with how you’re wired, play them up. But if they hinder you, trash them, set the can on fire, and make the schedule fit your needs. Just don’t show up to work on Wednesday asking how people’s weekend was.
