WHY (ELSE) CONTINUING TO WORKOUT IS IMPORTANT

Writer: Brandon WoodruffBrandon Woodruff

You already know it’s important to train your body, so I’m not going to harp here on the health benefits.

Instead, I want you to understand that keeping the HABIT alive is vital.

For many people, this chaotic time is a chance to step back from normal life and to focus on things they normally don’t feel they have time for. Things like fitness and health.

But for others, the fitness habits they already have are being significantly hampered.

Gyms are closing.

Groceries are limited.

This is an unprecedented time for a lot of us who haven’t seen a crisis on this scale before, and in a time like this, people tend to take stock of their lives. To re-prioritize.

And when new things take priority, since we only have so much time in a day, some of the old things have to take a back seat. And some of them should.

But not your fitness and health.

So, find ways to keep it going. If you normally hit the gym at a certain time, do another type of workout in that same time frame. Set up a home gym, get some resistance bands, or just stick to bodyweight workouts.

But protect that time. Don’t let something else take its place.

We don’t realize how important our habits are until something threatens them. That’s the nature of a habit, it’s almost automatic. It kind of runs in the background.

Maybe you will just maintain some progress and not make a lot during this weird time, but that’s not the point. The point is keeping the habit alive.
