Friends, you cannot "spot reduce" body-fat through exercises.
This is one of those myths that's like a flea; you try to crush it and it just keeps hopping around.
As in, there are no exercises that will give you a six pack, or that will take fat away from your waistline.
What you CAN do is be in a consistent caloric deficit, during which your body will lose fat in the order it wants.
One thing that strength training during this time WILL do is make you look how you probably want to as the body-fat drops off.
You also may be able to see that muscle a little more quickly because of the muscle you've built.
